The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport

Through the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport, we help to meet the needs of people at risk and youths in crisis, trying to break the cycle of poverty in the greater Bridgeport area. For more details visit:

Bridgeport Rescue Mission

Bridgeport Rescue Mission is dedicated to fighting poverty from the inside out. We provide vital services to men, women, and children facing hunger, homelessness, and addiction, offering help to heal and return to the community whole.

Church World Services

Every year Unity Hill collects and distributes hygiene and school kits. Each winter we collect money toward blankets that get delivered to families impacted by the pandemic, hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, and other crisis including homelessness and poverty.

The Crop Hunger Walk

Unity Hill participates in the annual Crop Hunger Walk, which raises funds to help neighbors near and far get the meals they need today and sustainable food security for tomorrow.

The CROP Hunger Walk is a nationwide movement sponsored by Church World Service to raise funds to end hunger and poverty in the U.S. and around the world.

Haitian Helping Hands

Through Haitian Helping Hands, Unity Hill supports Living Jesus Church in Tiby, Haiti and the surrounding community.

In 2016 and 2017, we participated in two mission trips to Haiti to rebuild a church and school in Port-au-Prince and provide food and supplies to the needy who are still recovering from the devastating earthquake in 2010.

United Church of Christ

By receiving a “Five for Five’ certificate, Unity Hill is proud to be a leader in providing support to Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM) and the UCC Special Mission Offerings which sponsor vital ministries that bring hope to people in the U.S. and around the world.

Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM) is the name we give to gifts from churches in support of the ministries and the United Church of Christ. OCWM supports our youth, our pastors, our churches, and our missions. In addition to OCWM, there are four Special Mission Offerings in the United Church of Christ. The offerings are: One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen the Church, Neighbors in Need, and The Christmas Fund. By contributing to OCWM basic support and these four Special Mission Offerings, churches receive a certificate for being “Five for Five.”

Locally Unity Hill works hard to combat food insecurities by organizing food drives to serve local charities and supporting individuals in crisis.

Daughter of Charities

Daughter of Charities is a “grass-roots” rescue mission that ministers directly to the needy people within the Bridgeport community.

Unity Hill helps meet the needs for food, clothing, etc. and some of the underlying causes of poverty so that people can become self-sufficient.

Communion at Middlebrook Farms

The second Wednesday of every month at 3:00pm, The Rev. Dr. M. Todd Shipley and Carole Fanslow provide a Communion Service to the residents of Middlebrook Farms Trumbull. Unity Hill has been providing this service over 20 years.

Trumbull Food Bank

For many years, Unity Hill has donated much needed food to the Trumbull Food Pantry.

The pantry supplies food for those who are in need in our community. Unity Hill organizes special food collections during the holidays and on other special occasions as well as throughout the year.

Community Suppers

For 30 years, Unity Hill UCC has been a faithful supporter, both financially and with volunteers, of the Community suppers cooked and served every other month at Golden Hill United Methodist Church to anyone who is hungry and needs a hot meal.
